November 03, 2010 - The Committee to Restore the Pride, the organization advocating the passage of the Mehlville School District's Proposition C, had raised nearly 20 times as much money as the group opposing the 88-cent tax-rate increase heading into Tuesday's election.
Mehlville voters considered Prop C Tuesday — after the Call went to press.
The Committee to Restore the Pride reported raising nearly $27,000, while the Mehlville Community Taxpayers Association, the organization opposing Prop C, reported raising nearly $1,400.
The information about both committees was included in campaign finance reports that state law requires to be filed eight days before an election.
Jeff Clobes and Jim Schibig are the co-chairs of the Committee to Restore the Pride. Jack Jordan is the organization's treasurer. Rich Franz, Greg Frigerio and Ken Meyer head the MCTA. Frigerio is the organization's treasurer, and Meyer is assistant treasurer.
The report by the Committee to Restore the Pride — dated Oct. 25 and filed with St. Louis County Oct. 28 — covers Oct. 1 through Oct. 21. During that period, the group raised $26,980 — $23,980 in cash and a $3,000 in-kind contribution — and spent $2,775. The committee reported having $24,205 cash on hand.

'Restore The Pride' is a misnomer, and quite frankly bullshit! The pride never went away! Nice use of a Joseph Gerbals style tactic! I personally am offended at the mere suggestion that Mehlville lacked pride!
ReplyDeleteAfter reviewing the contributions to each Prop it looks like Lindbergh has way more pride than Mehlville. The PTO of each elementary school, Mothers Club. Heck, even the Lindbergh Alumni Assoc. and the String Orchestra DA kicked in a $1000. each. Now there is some Pride!

Lindbergh will always be Linbergh.
